Request a feature to allow skippers to invite crew members to specific events. Possibly
select individual events to be by invitation only or private and allow skippers to select crew members and send invites to crew members for these events. This would prevent the sometimes delicate situations of telling crew members to stay ashore.

This feature already exists. It is done by creating a custom group, then using Skipper Send Email to send the invite to the selected group. You may also attach the event to the email so recipients have a direct link to input their availability.

Do the following steps (links to Skipper Manual areas covering the steps)

• Create the Event
• Set your own availability to yes and assign your position
• Create a custom group and assign people to the group
• Use Skipper Send Email to send your message to the group, and attach the event
• Wait for responses and assign crew to positions - use generic Crew if no specific position is anticipated
• Go sailing!

Then how do you hide event or prevent individuals from signing up for events they were not invited because they see on schedule which is public?

The answer is use the Hidden Crew model described in the Skipper Manual at this link. Just be aware that using this approach means that only crew you select will be able to see who else is crewing for a particular event. When the reminders go out, the entire crew will see who is assigned to the event.
