Add a New Crew Member

The Skipper may add a crew member individually or import many from an Excel spreadsheet. A person added to the Crew will display on an event Crew list, show on the Crew Roster and receive automatic email notifications for events they are scheduled. The Skipper handles everything for initial Crew entry. Once entered by the Skipper, Crew have an account to log into the boat website and may update their personal information when logged in by mousing over Crew on the menu, then click on Edit my Profile.

Add the new User
  • Log in to your Crew Manager site as the Skipper if you have multiple logins
  • Once logged in mouse over Skipper on the menu and click on WordPress Admin
  • The WordPress Admin Dashboard will load. On the left side menu, mouse over Users and click on Add New
  • Scroll down to the section labeled Add New User
  • Enter information in the following fields (* indicates required field):
    - *Username (must be lowercase, no spaces, numbers or special characters)
    - *Email
    - *First Name
    - *Last Name
    - *Display Name
    - Send User Notification box - check or uncheck as desired if you want to notify the user about their new account, but it is not necessary. Tip: Leaving this check is the easiest way to inform the new user of their account and includes directions on how to log in for first time.
    - *Role (leave as Subscriber)
    - Skip Confirmation Email box - leave checked
    - Mobile Phone Number (10 digits)
    - Mobile Phone Carrier (dropdown selection) only needed if text messaging desired
    - Receive SMS Text Messages in Addition to Email checkbox only needed if text messaging desired
    - Other fields for personal information may be filled in if known, but can be edited later by the Crew member
    - Include on Core Crew Email List box - check or uncheck as desired to assign the Crew to this email list
    - Include on All Posts Email List box - check or uncheck as desired to assign the Crew to this email list (sends all new posts published or updated)
    -Additional fields may be displayed if enable for Passport, Emergency Contact & Travel Information. These are all optional
  • Scroll down and click the blue button labeled Add New User
  • Click the Home icon on top left to return to the boat website home page
The Skipper may retire a person anytime. They will continue to display on the assigned event crew if they were added to a particular event, but not show on the crew assignment dropdown or crew roster. The Skipper may also add or remove them from All Posts and Core Crew groups at anytime. If the person returns for an event next year, just uncheck Retired in Manage Groups and they will be visible to assign again.

The person added as Crew may log in as desired using their email address using the How to Set Your Password or Forgot Your Password procedure.
