Feature Exists: Deadline for signing up for a race.

The current notification for an upcoming race is premised upon 'a reminder for the next race' (e.g., 8-48 hours before the event).
It would be nice to have a second notification feature for "deadline to sign up for a race" with the setting being "days before the race." I would use this 5-7 days before an event. If the stock email could list the current crew availability settings and tell people: (a) if you are listed as "available" and cannot make the race, please change setting to "no" and (b) if your availability is "maybe" the skipper is going to start looking for a replacement.

Looking at this, there may already be something close. The ability to track "Registered" and "Fees Paid" for regatta exists

You could use "Registered" for (b)
Calendered is easy - just look on the calendar!
Committed is "Fees Paid"
You can use under the
Skipper menu
Skipper Send Email to send an email to the crew with a link to signup for the event. Free form text can be included in the message to say "boat is not committed until we have at least four crew committed."

I am gravitating towards a more general solution - - the ability to "forward" an event record (that has the event details & the status of the crew) to the crew and add some comments. The skipper can then tailor their comments many different scenarios, e.g.:
1. "I need" at least two MAYBE's to switch to YES before some date.
2. An important notice like "We are leaving the dock 30 minutes earlier."
3. The person bringing beer is no longer coming and I need a new volunteer.

Nick,
The general solution of Skipper Send Email should work for this. You enter whatever text you want in the body of the email. You may then include the link to the event, or copy and paste from the calendar entry. It is sent to the people listed in the "To" dropdown for the scheduled event.
This provides maximum flexibility to use the text, links and images you want to include. The distribution is automatically done from the To dropdown, so no need to look up and enter email addresses.
An additional method is to post a comment on the event. It is sent to all who have set availability for the event.
