Bug Fixed: Gmail import misaligning TimeZones

Post by Awaysailing »

Hi,

We are located in San Francisco, therefore reside within PST TZ.
When adding the calendar to my gmail account by using the supplied URL

Subject: Bug - [Gmail import misaligning TimeZones]

Link to page where bug noticed: Copy the link from your browser address bar
Device Used: PC
Web Browser and Version if known: Chrome Version 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Critical Failure?: Nope
What Happened?: Schedule is populated on the crew manager website, but when importing via supplied URL, the TMZ shows up in my google calendar as EST. Put another way, I set a meet time on your website for 0900 saturday, when it imports, it shows as 3 hours earlier, 0600
Steps to Reproduce: Provide the steps taken to reproduce the error
Create a Gmail calendar, set TMZ to PST
From Crew-mgr website calendar, subscribe via Google format selection to all events
Screen Shot:
View from Crew Page, 1st Feb golden gate shows 8:45am Meet
View from google calendar shows 05:45 Meet.

Mark - I'll look into this and see where the sync between time zones is getting trashed so it can be fixed. Stand by....

Mark,

I set the calendar in your site to explicitly show the timezone in each calendar entry. You should see "America/Los Angeles Timezone" on each time. Hopefully the Google calendar will see that and self correct.

Another thing to try. I did this on my PC but it should be accessible from a mobile device too.
  1. Open the Google calendar
  2. Click the Settings Menu gear near the upper right of the display, the click Settings
  3. Under Time Zone, make sure (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time - Los Angeles is selected in the primary time zone dropdown
  4. Click the back arrow upper left display to return to the calendar
The calendar sync is done with the All in One Events Calendar plugin, and may take up to 6 hours to resync. Let me know if this fixed the problem.

Hi,

The switch to PST permutated through and now looks good on my calendar.
Pearl is checking hers, right now it is showing up as EST, she has the calendar set to PST Los Angeles.
We will check it again later today, and let you know how it looks, Thank you.

Cheers,

Mark
